I had some fun with this as a pattern on some objects. I like the enlarging method of mirroring and creating a growing fractal, it gives a pleasing symmetry that is not part of the original. I also added some color variations.
I was inspired to paint this watercolor by a small reproduction in a book of a Turkish pattern. It is challenging to hand draw a pattern like this but it encourages me to focus and let the chattering in my brain slow down. Painting as a meditation. I had also been looking at a photo of some light coming onto a tiled floor through some colored glass and was interested in the color/pattern combo and how the bright colors could be right up against each other and yet not have edges.
