Hi, I’m Melissa Clark and welcome to Baloushe.
I am a painter living in Seattle. Color is my joy and I want to put my work out there in the world to find the people that feel the same. Part of being a painter is solitary and listening to the work and part of it has to be sharing that work. I started Baloushe in 2015 to give the paintings a place to be visible. I also want to discover some other ways to use that artwork in ways that can fuel the growth of new creative endeavors. I want to create a life of using my skills to reach my potential because using my skills to help others goals has not worked out so well and that has been a real clarifying moment. There is no safety in choosing to work for someone else. Time is a large investment and it should be in what is going to help reach your own life goals. Find the things you love and do more of that, seems like the best advice. Painting always continues to be my dream and my link to my soul. I may not know much but I know that.
When I started Baloushe I hoped to one day include more than my paintings and wanted to use a name that could have its own identity. I don’t know what that looks like but it felt right to do. My mission is to create art and learn as many ways to put it out into the world as I can and connect with the people who are like me. People who love color and want to be surrounded by art and the spirit of making things. A creative person can produce amazing things. I love to see what people are making and it is inspirational and I hope I can inspire others in that same way.
It is in our nature to create and we need only to nurture it.
